I am boycotting SL5B, to protest the way I was treated and the heavy hand LL applied at the last minute that nearly ruined the event. The success of the event is due entirely to the dedication of a large number of volunteers who worked their arses off on this major event. It is LL that reaps the primary benefit from it.
The cost/benefit ratio of volunteering has had its scales tipped due to my good faith as a volunteer being burned
, turning most of the altruistic “benefits” to ashes.
I don’t feel comfortable saying more for fear of reprisals, therefore I am giving no interviews.
What I will say is that I agree with the sentiment in Gwyn‘s blog post:
But I really did not wish to be burned by LL — again. I know it’s selfish, but as time goes by, I find it increasingly harder to engage in anything where LL is “organising” things. And, honestly, it’s quite a lack of politeness to let people do all the work for you for a year and throw them out of the organisation by imposing impossible demands and force them to quit — and never even acknowledge their hard, patient, and most importantly, volunteer work.

If a resident run fringe festival takes place i and probably most of the talented builders would support it, leaving Linden lab with the noobs.
